What is background noise?

When we speak about background noise, we refer to the sounds you may hear on an audio or video document that needs to be transcribed. This noise usually is: ringing mobile phones, moving chairs or barking but also clearing one's throat, repeating words or getting into a muddle.

You only have to decide if you want us to transcribe the background noise or not. This decision obviously depends on the meaning of the transcription. To "write the background noise" may be appropiate for an interview or a screenplay, but it may not for an entry in your blog, article, novel or lecture. Usally we transcribe without this kind of noise, nevertheless, if there is something you like to emphasize, we can stand it out in bold type or underline it. It just depends on your oder!
